College

College :

The UK Dodgeball Association’s new college offer for 2015 we believe will fit the needs of all colleges, whether your college has been playing dodgeball for years, whether you have just started or whether you are just thinking of starting. The offer is split into four key strands; affiliation, activation, competition and resource.

Affiliation :

We offer free affiliation to the UK Dodgeball Association for all colleges. This enables the dialogue to begin between the individual college and the governing body, it allows us to understand your needs for the sport and assists you to learn from our knowledge of dodgeball and how we can support you. Affiliation also comes with great benefits such as free resources, 50% discount on coach education for all staff and students and a discount on dodgeballs. You will not need to re-affiliate if you were previously affiliated last season, however it would be useful to get in touch if the main contact at the college has changed.

Activation :

For colleges that want to develop the sport of dodgeball we believe they should be afforded the opportunity to develop a College Dodgeball Activator. Once a College Sport Maker or Sport Development Officer has completed the UKDBA Level 1 or Level 2 Coaching Award and in possession of the Activator handbook they would be able to become the College Dodgeball Activator. Along with their coaching qualification they will receive the Activator handbook free of charge. Within the handbook they will receive advice on introducing dodgeball, training and development, outreach, competitions and challenges and many useful resources. A College Dodgeball Activator will also be able to deliver the 3 hour UKDBA Student Activator Workshop to students within their college.

Competition :

We are working with the Association of Colleges to introduce a National College Competition, the aim is for this event to take place early 2016. Where there is the demand we are also keen to support College Sport Makers, the Association of Colleges and County Sports Partnerships to provide local level college competitions.

Currently colleges are able to enter the University & College Championships and the University & College Cup. These events form part of the UKDBA competitions calendar and take place in winter and spring each year.

Resource :

If your college is completely new to the sport of dodgeball or you just want a great new resource to deliver dodgeball at your college then our ‘get dodging’ resource card is a great place to start. The resource is available for free in the download section of the website and also comes with the activator booklet.
