The UK Dodgeball season takes place from September to June each year. Concluding with the pinnacle of the season at the UK Championships.
As the governing body for the sport we aim to provide opportunities for those players competing at each of the grass roots level, the elite level and internationally.
The model above highlights the areas of the sport that we support through our competitions structure. Each competition falls into at least one of the following areas:
The bulk of dodgeball players in the UK form the grass roots game. Grass roots in dodgeball consists of school games competitions, club led link competitions between schools, colleges and community clubs, regional tournaments that are open to all players beyond the elite leagues, and open and cup competitions. We also host a freshers championship for those players new to the game at universities and colleges. Our regional tournaments and opens allow players to compete on a regular basis against teams and players of similar ability before making that step to elite level dodgeball.
The core of our affiliated club membership exists within our elite level leagues and championships. The strength of our national leagues are the bedrock to the sustainability of the sport. 110 teams from 49 clubs compete in 14 leagues in England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Elite level competition is also represented at our championship events. The University Championships take place prior to the Christmas break whilst the National Championships of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales complete the season and also act as qualifiers for the prestigious UK Championships – the UKDBA’s most high status event since 2007.
Each season we run the UKDBA Six Nations Championships, which consists of a men’s, women’s and mixed team event for the International teams of England, France, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We will also look for opportunities to host other major international events such as the European Dodgeball Championships and the Dodgeball World Cup.
