Last weekend the 2016 UKDBA Six Nations Championships took place in Liverpool. Teams from all 4 home nations plus France and Ireland competed across men’s, women’s and mixed categories. There was also an invitational under 13’s tournament showcasing some incredible future talent from junior teams around the country.
The event was sold out with spectators travelling hundreds of miles to support their players – raising the profile of the sport to a packed-out crowd.
During the junior invitational matches, teams from: Leicester Panthers, Ultimate Dodge Newmarket, Manchester Bees and Lancashire Bombers provided the crowd with a glimpse of future dodgeball stars, showcasing their energy and skills. Ultimate Dodge reigned victorious in the junior competition after beating Manchester Bees in a fantastic final. The talent and sportsmanship shown by all the junior competitors was commendable.
In the mixed category, Wales beat Northern Ireland for 3rd position whilst England claimed the gold medal, beating Scotland in the final. The women’s games saw Northern Ireland victorious over Scotland for 3rd place and England Lions claim their second title defeating Ireland.
The men’s final saw England and Scotland competing in an adrenaline filled game– ending in a fantastic victory for Scotland. The final match reflected the excitement felt throughout the whole weekend of competition.
The UKDBA would like to thank everyone who attended last weekend’s 6 nations tournament: the players for their passion and energy, the excellent referees, MC – Greg, the dedicated coaches, the venue & their staff and finally all the brilliant spectators who travelled – despite the weather – to celebrate a fantastic weekend of sport.
